Care for Animals Ambassadors (CAA)
Program introduction
 
Participants of the Care for Animals Ambassadors Scheme are required to attend training programs to improve their knowledge and understanding, not only on animals, but also the role and function of Care for Animals Ambassadors (CAA) and Society for Abandoned Animals (SAA). They are required to take part in different fund raising events, education campaign, dog walker program and help spreading SAA¡¦s motto to the community. The CAA program will also organize various activities like barbecues or fun day for participants to make the best of their spare-time and to exchange experience with other CAA members.
 
Program Objectives
 
¡E Call for stronger public awareness and concerns on animal welfare in the community
¡E Help people understand the severity of animal abandoning problem in Hong Kong
¡E Expand the scope of animal welfare services in breadth and depth and seek for more support
¡E Inculcate a sense of faithfulness among volunteers by providing a platform for the growth of an extensive, well-organized and loyal volunteer pool to render more sustainable, committed and quality services
¡E Provide the volunteers an opportunity to contribute in improving animal welfare
 
Target Participants
 
Our target participants are animal lovers, parents or families, school teachers and corporations who concern animal welfare, nature conservations, etc.

To become a Care-for-the-Animals Ambassador (CAA), you can join either one or a combination of followings:

¡E Education Volunteer
 
Volunteers who join the program are screened by quality interview and personality judgment before being arranged to attend public seminars and leading SAA¡¦s abandoned dogs to visit various organizations and schools including kindergartens, primary, secondary, universities and special schools introducing SAA as well as Hong Kong animal abandoning problems and consequences to students. The goal of holding seminars is to spread the message of loving animals to students. Before deciding to own a pet, one should consider if he/she could spare time and space for their pets, never deciding on the spur of an impulse. A pet can bring you great pleasure; please avoid turning pleasure to tragedy.

¡E Dog Handler Program
 
SAA has been established for more than ten years. The existence of SAA relies entirely on generous support from all walks of life. We now launch the ¡§Dog Walker Program¡¨. In this program, after finishing a training course, dog walkers are qualified to walk SAA¡¦s dogs. It not only provides the dogs an opportunity to interact with the surroundings, also the dogs can learn the way to communicate with human which makes them easier to get along with human and therefore leads to a higher chance of adoption. Meanwhile, dog walkers are also benefited through exercising, escaping from the hustle and bustle of city life and enjoying a fresh breath.
 
¡E Aged 16 or above
¡E Must be SAA member
¡E Provide with a 2-lesson training course for Voluntary Dog Walkers
¡E Arrangement of a Dog Walker Upgrading Examination
¡E Dog Walkers who pass the upgrading examination will receive a Voluntary Dog Walker Card

¡E TNR Volunteer
 
Volunteers who regularly feed the stray dogs/cats help catch them under safe condition and bring them to SAA Medical Centre to perform neutering. The stray animals will then be released to where they are caught after the operation. TNR volunteers will continue feeding and monitoring their health condition with records until the end of life.
